It's recommended to use this tool over a simple sysfs check, ConditionACPower or other ad-hoc methods which notoriously fail to account for unobvious quirks, both old and new. # Checking if /sys/class/power_supply/ac/online is 1 fails to account # for multiple power supplies and all the rest; systemd doesn't know # about PMU (Apple Powerbooks), APM (old x86) and USB* (various arm # devices); various cargo-culted scripts are much, much worse. # # And even this tool is far from being adequate.
