Furthermore, the dvipdfm config file is now handled by ucf to prevent bogus dpkg dialogs. . If dpkg cannot remove dvipdfm and gives an error about dpkg-divert, you ran into an old bug of tetex-base which cannot be fixed automatically. You have to manually remove the file /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/graphics/dvipdfm.def in this case. .
