fix broken wildcard usage in Makefile
Upstream's method works with MacOS and/or BSD make, but is broken with
GNU Make (and possibly others). At this time it's not clear whether
upstream would prefer this solution, or one that uses the "find"
program (which will probably not work on Windows).
