3 security issues in bullseye high

There are 3 open security issues in bullseye.

2 important issues:
  • CVE-2026-19654: A unauthenticated remote peer may lead rsyslogd to crash due to a flaw in the optional imptcp module. A crafted input sequence during oversize-frame recovery can cause an invalid internal message length and terminate rsyslogd. No confidentiality or integrity impact, privilege escalation, or code execution has been identified. imtcp and the default imptcp framing modes are not affected.
  • CVE-2026-78002: A flaw was found in rsyslog. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger a heap buffer overflow in the RainerScript `replace()` function by sending specially crafted syslog messages. This vulnerability arises from an incorrect buffer size calculation during string replacement, causing memory corruption. Successful exploitation can lead to a denial of service (DoS) for the affected system.
1 issue postponed or untriaged:
  • CVE-2026-61548: (postponed; to be fixed through a stable update)

Fails to build during reproducibility testing normal
A package building reproducibly enables third parties to verify that the source matches the distributed binaries. It has been identified that this source package produced different results, failed to build or had other issues in a test environment. Please read about how to improve the situation!

debian/patches: 3 patches to forward upstream low

Among the 3 debian patches available in version 8.2608.0-4 of the package, we noticed the following issues:

  • 3 patches where the metadata indicates that the patch has not yet been forwarded upstream. You should either forward the patch upstream or update the metadata to document its real status.

  • This package will soon be part of the auto-openssl transition. You might want to ensure that your package is ready for it. You can probably find supplementary information in the debian-release archives or in the corresponding release.debian.org bug.
