    It seems as though I missed that part of the requirements in
    a42f1542d7f3ec998cf866c0fe1142e6db04696f. Now there's a lintian test for
    this -- good (thanks lintian devs!)
    
    This patch was built for the debian package and is not something that
    should get sent upstream.

    we download upstream release tarballs; we're not getting the upstream

    This makes working with git-buildpackage easier and also prepares the
    package for inclusion of the upstream development branch.
    
    It is targeted for the development HEAD in debian/latest. For backports
    and maintenance of stable releases, change debian-branch to the
    appropriate branch and push there.
