this package seems to have new commits in its VCS but has
not yet updated debian/changelog. You should consider updating
the Debian changelog and uploading this new version into the archive.

Replace dpkg-vendor calls wwith reading /etc/dpkg/origins/default
dpkg-vendor is shipped by dpkg-dev, and we don't want to grow a runtime
dependency on it. Replace it with parsing /etc/dpkg/origins/default.
