Merge master into debian/sid
Bring in GoogleTest 1.18.0, strict test warning checks, the MSVC warning
fixes, and the fix that keeps Debian CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS scoped to their
respective languages. Preserve the Debian packaging files.
Validation on the merged tree using Debian hardening=+all flags, shared
libraries, and system Biosig: all six packaging-enabled test cases pass
with clean test compilation. Enabling numeric tests also passes all 49
cases. Confirm C-only diagnostics are absent from C++ compile commands.
The broader Biosig build retains two pre-existing timestamp warnings.
A full Debian package build was not performed because packaging tools
and some build dependencies are not installed on this host.

Keep Debian compiler flags scoped to their languages
Apply CFLAGS only to C sources and CXXFLAGS only to C++ sources. Debian can
include -Werror=implicit-function-declaration in CFLAGS; passing that C-only
option to C++ triggers a diagnostic that now stops strict GoogleTest builds.
Keep common preprocessor and linker flags shared.
Validation: reproduced the failure before the fix. All six packaging container
cases compile and pass without warnings under Debian hardening=+all flags.
With numeric tests enabled, all 49 cases also pass using shared libraries and
system Biosig. Verify C-only flags are absent from C++ compile commands.
The broader Biosig build retains two pre-existing timestamp warnings; a full
Debian package build was not performed.

Fix MSVC warning errors in numeric tests and file readers
Rename local fit options and baseline tolerance variables that hide globals.
MSVC reports C4459 for these declarations and /WX stops the numeric test build.
Add -Wshadow to the GCC/Clang test flags so the same regression is caught locally.
Resolve the other warnings exposed by building the full Windows numeric suite:
rename shadowed AxoGraph byte counts, make its existing float and Pascal-string
conversions explicit, retain the WinAPI BOOL result type, and use size_t for
in-memory HEKA indices, counts, and fread results. Binary record layouts and
sample conversions remain unchanged. Keep warnings-as-errors enabled.
Validation: all 49 cases pass without compiler diagnostics in GCC 15.2
Release/static and Debug/shared builds. A binary AxoGraph smoke test verifies
integer/double columns (including float rounding) and Pascal string round-trips.

Upgrade vendored GoogleTest to 1.18.0 and enforce clean test builds
Import the official release headers and sources without local patches and record
release provenance, commit, and archive checksum. Keep the static GoogleTest
build on Stimfit's C++17 toolchain and runtime settings.
Fix test type conversions and unused fit results, use ULP comparisons for fixed
floating-point parameters, and make random inputs and diagnostic paths suitable
for CI. Treat test-target warnings as errors and compile MSVC tests as UTF-8.
Expand Windows CI to run the numeric suite alongside the container suite and
require nonempty test runs on Windows, Ubuntu, and macOS.
Validation: 49 cases pass with zero compiler diagnostics under GCC 15.2 in a
clean Release/static build and a Debug/shared build. Test sources also pass
-Wconversion -Werror checks. Verify vendored files against the official archive
and validate the CI workflow YAML and CMake presets.
